Hello all, and hope everyone is having a wonderful long weekend! I very much appreciate Labor Day, particularly as a (former) Union member.
I wanted to share two ways that I've been able to contribute to my community recently, inspired by the Acts of Service board - which I think is a fantastic initiative! First, while it is not quite making a meal, I sent a favorite meal to one of my best friends and her partner following the birth of their first child a few weeks ago. This is very easy to do through apps like Doordash or Ubereats, and while it is not quite as personal as being able to deliver a home cooked meal, it is a great way to support a new mom who lives far away. They were very excited and it meant a lot to them.
Second, I just purchased a few items for a first-time teacher who is a friend of a friend. One of the items I particularly loved is a book called "It's OK to be Different", which is a children's book about diversity and embracing all with kindness. I thought it was very much in the spirit of Rotary, and I've included a picture.
I hope everyone enjoys the rest of the weekend, and I look forward to seeing more ways that our club is serving our local and global communities. It is always inspiring!
